Let's make music
Orange Crate Recordings is a boutique song lab, microstudio, and inspiration den nestled in a small orange grove at the foot of Ventura County one hour outside of Los Angeles. Founded and built by Devon Geyer in 2024 OCR is a true labor of love.
Equipped with a dozen large baffles and an isolation corner The Crate is the place to make professional recordings in a manageable room. With an emphasis on crafting great songs and great recordings Devon Geyer believes anything is possible if the juice is worth the squeeze.
Praise for “Paper Cut” by Verna Margaret and Devon Geyer
"A structurally perfect country song, Margaret's piercing vocals expose a seemingly lived pain within these lyrics. This song could have easily slipped into cliché, but the references to queer relationships, subtle modern touches and high-quality stereo production allow this classic sound to fit perfectly within the present."
- Country Cutler
“I was taken into a sway along to the music. A country track that I would love to hear late at night played with the sun setting over the sea! The vocals are dreamy, the music gently uplifting. I would suggest country radio would gain from giving this a spin, it has a decent kick to it.” -
- Rock The Joint Magazine
“Co-written with Devon Geyer and produced at the Orange Crate, “Paper Cut” pulls from country’s storytelling tradition — Gram Parsons, Lucinda Williams — while holding space for the sardonic edge of Fiona Apple or St. Vincent.”
